Pro AV Solutions recently hosted members of Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Western Australia (WA) at its Perth Experience Centre for an industry session focused on AV and visualisation in the built environment.

The event brought together consulting engineers and industry professionals involved in the design and delivery of complex infrastructure projects. Attendees included representatives from Aurecon, Stantec, ACOR Consultants and organisations such as Rio Tinto.

Connecting AV with the built environment

The session opened with Mark Davie from Aurecon, setting the context around how visualisation technologies are shaping modern building design.

Pro AV Solutions presented on AV over IP and the growing convergence between audiovisual systems and mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The session explored how AV is no longer a standalone layer but part of the core digital backbone of a building.

The key message was clear. Infrastructure traditionally defined as IT or building services is already carrying AV. Structured cabling, communications rooms, and control platforms are shared environments across data, building management systems, security, and AV.

This changes the role of AV in project design. The decision is no longer about adding AV at the end of a project. It is about whether AV is considered from day one as part of the overall building infrastructure.

Practical applications in healthcare environments

Biamp presented on active sound masking and its role in improving patient privacy in healthcare environments.

The discussion focused on how sound management supports compliance and user experience in clinical settings, reinforcing the need to integrate AV and acoustic considerations early in the design process.

Engaging the engineering community in Perth and WA

The event welcomed around 20 attendees and created an open forum for discussion between engineers, consultants, and technology specialists.

Hosting the session at the Pro AV Solutions Perth Experience Centre allowed participants to connect theory with practical application, seeing how AV systems operate within a real environment rather than as isolated components.

For consulting engineers working across Perth and Western Australia, this type of engagement supports more informed design decisions and better integration of AV within broader project scopes.

Positioning Pro AV Solutions WA at the design stage

For Pro AV Solutions WA, the event reflects a broader shift in how AV is positioned within projects.

Consulting engineers play a critical role in shaping specifications across sectors such as healthcare, corporate, and infrastructure. Engaging this audience early supports better outcomes for clients and more integrated project delivery.

By hosting CIBSE WA at its Perth Experience Centre, Pro AV Solutions continues to position itself as a partner in the design phase of projects, working alongside engineers and consultants rather than entering at the procurement stage.
