HP/Poly: Redefining Hybrid Collaboration with AI and Human-Centred Design

“The way we work has completely evolved,” says Vincent Dal, HP’s Global Chief Technologist for Collaboration. “We used to work from the office, then we were forced to work from home, and now we mix both - home to focus, office to socialise.”

That change has redefined what meeting rooms are for. They’re no longer static spaces for presentations, but places for connection.
“You don’t want bowling-alley views anymore,” Dal explains. “You want cameras to zoom in on people, to show faces like they were sitting behind their own laptop.”

HP/Poly’s technology reflects that shift. Its conferencing solutions automatically frame participants, while features like spatial audio in Microsoft Teams make sound feel directional - so voices appear to come from where people sit on screen. It’s a simple change that helps remote users feel part of the same room.

Smarter Devices for Real Conversations

Personal devices have evolved too. “We upgraded from mono to full stereo audio,” Dal says, referring to the Poly V12. “It’s below 1,000 US dollars and brings proper localisation. Most speakers in this range are mono - ours are stereo.”

That stereo clarity makes hybrid calls sound more lifelike. Behind the scenes, AI refines every detail - removing background noise, framing faces, and balancing light automatically. “AI isn’t just chatbots,” Dal notes. “It’s what takes the dog barking out of your call and keeps you in frame.”

From Home Desks to Smarter Rooms

The home office has become a professional space. “During COVID, the best-selling product on Amazon wasn’t webcams,” Vincent recalls. “It was LED lighting - people wanted to look better on camera.”

That attention to quality now extends to the office. HP/Poly helps organisations design environments that match how their people actually work. Using a free profiling tool, companies can identify user types - “road warriors,” “office communicators,” and others - then plan the right balance of huddle rooms, focus rooms, and larger spaces.

“It’s about matching technology to the way people work,” Dal says. “Not the other way around.”

One Seamless Experience

Across home and office, HP/Poly focuses on a single goal - giving every user the same high-quality experience.
Together with Pro AV Solutions, that innovation comes to life in workplaces built around people, clarity, and collaboration.
