Case Study – University of Southern Queensland
Pro AV Solutions were commissioned to design, supply and integrate 5 x turnkey synchronous teaching rooms that could link other rooms to enable remote engagement via soft client codecs with both lecturer and student participation.
In four rooms, we enabled room linking to the adjoined room (2 x 2) for the room expansion requirements in larger student groups.
Using state of the art IP technology, we were able to engage a network standards platform for the university to evaluate for future room builds as part of the One USQ Experience Project.
The project included Harman/AMX SVSi N2000 series encoders (17 x per room) and decoders to convert traditional AV signals to IP and an N8002 central controller. Encoders and decoder were in both standalone appliances and card frames.

inputs to PC’s for soft client PC collaboration applications, Beyer microarray microphones at lecterns to provide flexible audio pickup of lecturer speech, Barco Clickshare to support all BYOD devices, Custom built lecterns to provide clean, accessible layouts on lectern benches.
Based on the amount of signal management required for these complex rooms, the SVSi solution has provided a more cost-effective approach to any signal anywhere requirements. Placing the signals on the university network infrastructure has allowed for even more expansion capabilities exceeding the client’s requirements.
A huge benefit for the client was for us to be involved in the overall process from early conceptual designs right through to new intuitive touch panel layouts, installation management and final configuration and commissioning.
The client has expressed their excitement on how successful their first truly IP based AV distribution installation has been and how reliable it is.
