THE BRIEF

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is a public research university based in Sydney and is considered by many as prestigious institution, making it one of the top-100 universities in the world.

Our relationship with the UNSW started back in 1999 and has since been a trusted customer of Pro AV Solutions.

We were engaged by UNSW to assist with the design and deployment of the Executive boardroom for the Vice Chancellor and board members. The project also consisted of several smaller MTR (Microsoft Teams Rooms) spaces.

The scope for this project focused on delivering a well-designed and technology-driven premium space for the top executives at the university, with key features including voice tracking of cameras and in-room voice lift. Another key requirement was to cater for the flexibility of having various meeting scenarios in the same space depending on the number of participants for a given meeting.

Pro AV Solutions worked closely with TAG (QSC), Crestron, and Gilfillan Soundwork to achieve a modern, flexible, and easy-to-use audio visual solution for UNSW.

THE SOLUTION

Considering the complexity of the room type and the need for flexibility, the design process emphasised finding a solution that suits the space’s various scenarios, at a press of a button. This challenge was addressed by our qualified and experienced team by deploying Microsoft Teams Rooms and bring flexibility, quality, and reliability. As a premium Microsoft Teams certified product, Crestron Flex was deployed in the space, providing a consistent user experience from desktop to meeting room.

Commercial-grade Samsung displays were installed in the boardroom, offering bright, crystal-clear visuals.

Pro AV Solutions engaged David Gilfillan from Gilfillan Soundwork, who was also engaged by UNSW as the audio consultant for the space, to commission the audio in the space and provide a seamless audio experience.

The solution consisted of the distribution of camera tracking via voice, by integrating Sennheiser Team Connect 2 ceiling microphones with QSC audio processing and QLAN Cameras to switch between camera positions.

The timeline for the delivery of this project was tight however with a thorough project plan, we were able to deliver this solution within a month, providing UNSW with a flexible, modern, and technology-ready space for their board meetings.
