Kym began his AV career in 1980, in Canada, where he co-founded and ran a retail Hi-Fi business—Sound Advice. In 1990, he sold the business and moved back home to Adelaide, Australia.
In 1993 he joined Electronic Concepts, the fledgling company that would become AV Central, and now trades as Pro AV Solutions. Kym joined the Professional Video team, and took quickly to the technology. Since then, Kym has stayed abreast of a fast-developing industry: from Betacam, to Super VHS, to HDV, to P2 memory cards.
In 2006, Kym became a company director, in addition to his role as Professional Audio & Video Manager. The Professional Video division has supplied broadcasters, the defence industry, amateur videographers, students, teachers, directors of photography, editors, freelance camera operators, directors, producers and feature film makers. With 20 years of experience, Kym is nationally recognised as an industry leader. Kym’s solutions can be found around Australia: in educational institutions (MAPS Film School, Uni SA & Flinders University); broadcasting facilities (Nine Network, ABC, WIN TV, Seven, Network Ten and a number of webcasters); sporting institutions and stadiums; as well as scientific and medical research facilities.
Kym has also championed the importance of supporting community and industry events: over the years, Pro AV Solutions has sponsored festivals, The Australian Cinematography Society, film screenings and award ceremonies, and in 2011, even hosted a video art show.
In August 2012, Pro AV Solutions expanded its national capability, and now encompasses five capital city locations. With the combined strength of hundreds of professionals sharing the same passion, culture and vision to innovate, Pro AV Solutions is uniquely capable of offering solutions that capture the imagination and exceed our clients’ expectations.
