Born and educated in Christchurch, New Zealand, Philip moved to Brisbane, Australia in 1985, where he started his career in the professional video industry working within the Business and Industrial (B&I) division of SONY Australia.
After developing a keen understanding of SONY Data Projection, and pursuing several dealer-based roles in professional video, he turned his mind to integrated systems—specifically, control systems.
Philip was introduced to the AMX AXCESS Platform in the early 90’s and quickly became a capable and resourceful AMX integrator. He would go on to design and program some of the first AMX controlled environments in Queensland.
In 1995, Advanced Video Integration was formed, with Philip as an initial partner. By 1999, he had acquired 100% shares in the business, and hoped to pursue his dream of making AVI a shining light in the professional AV industry.
Under Phillip’s leadership, Advanced Video Integration has completed some of the most significant and complex control and digital video projects in their region. One such project recently received an Australian Best Project Award, and two others are featured in the AMX global corporate brochure.
In 1999, Philip—along with other like-minded AV businesses around Australia—formed the Navigate Group. Their vision was of a combined force of AV integration professionals that all prided themselves on delivering excellence. In 2008, the Navigate group joined the Global Presence Alliance (GPA) as one of the founding members. Philip has worked with the GPA partners around the world for over 4 years.
In August 2012, Advanced Video Integration, along with the rest of the Navigate Group, united under the banner of Pro AV Solutions. Now a truly national company, Pro AV Solutions encompasses five capital city locations. With the combined strength of hundreds of professionals sharing the same passion, culture and vision to innovate, Pro AV Solutions is uniquely capable of offering solutions that capture the imagination and exceed our clients’ expectations.
